In the Court's view, service via an email that has only a link to a website where the complaint, summons, etc. may be found is insufficient. Rather, the email must include as attachments the complaint and its attachments, as well as the summons and any other pertinent documents. In other words, the defendant should not have to go looking for the summons and complaint; they should be attached to the document that is sent to the defendant. This will pose no hardship whatsoever to plaintiff; it's a few simple clicks to add these attachments to the email the plaintiff proposes to send anyway. The Court also notes that plaintiff's proposed ex parte TRO approves email-plus-link service, which the Court is not approving. The proposed TRO must be modified as well.
