MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: On review of the complaint and Schedule A, R. 5-1, the Court raises the propriety of joinder of the Defendants. The Plaintiff shall review the opinion in Estee Lauder Cosmetics Ltd. v. Schedule A, 334 F.R.D. 182, 188-90 (N.D. Ill. 2020) (trademark case but applicable to patent cases too), and file a supplemental memorandum addressing the propriety of joinder by 04/23/2025. In lieu of the supplemental memorandum, by the same deadline, the Plaintiff may file an amended complaint with (a) one defendant or (b) a subset of the defendants along with a memo explaining why joinder of those defendants is proper. For now, the motion 4 to seal is granted provisionally. The Court will again review the propriety of sealing when evaluating the underlying motions. The TRO motion 10 and motion 12 for alternative services are taken under advisement for now given the joinder issue. But the Plaintiff must email a proposed TRO order in MS Word format by 04/23/2025.
