A plaintiff alleging a violation of its intellectual property rights is permitted to proceed against a pseudonym (like a website or operating name of an e-commerce store or seller) for the actual entity alleged to have violated its rights because plaintiffs allegedly being damaged by internet stores have no way of ascertaining the legally recognized owners and so would otherwise have no legal mechanism for vindicating their rights.
