MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: (1.) The motions 6 11 to file sealed versions of the TRO filings is granted for now in light of the goal of asset restraint. But the aspect of the motion 6 to proceed under a pseudonym is denied. The motion does not set forth specific and concrete facts that proceeding under a pseudonym is necessary, given that the TRO filings will be under seal. The denial of that aspect of the motion is without prejudice to refiling a properly supported motion showing that there is a substantial risk in copyright-infringement cases that public disclosure of the plaintiff from the start will undermine a valid interest. Any refiled motion is due by 05/10/2024. (2.) On review of the complaint and the TRO brief and exhibits, R. 2, 8, 9, the Court raises the propriety of joinder of the 76 Defendants. The Plaintiff shall review the opinion in Estee Lauder Cosmetics Ltd. v. Schedule A, 334 F.R.D. 182, 18789 (N.D. Ill. 2020), and file a supplemental memorandum addressing the propriety of joinder by 05/13/2024. In lieu of the supplemental memorandum, by the same deadline, the Plaintiff may file an amended complaint with (a) one defendant or (b) a subset of the defendants along with a memo explaining why joinder of those defendants is proper. The other motions 8 10 are premised on the current schedule of Defendants and are thus terminated without prejudice.
